Phoenix Chorale are always keen to find ways to promote music in any form and we appreciate that if choral music is to become sustainable, we need to encourage young people to get involved.

The Phoenix Juniors choir was founded in 2016 and is led by qualified teacher Nikki Hirst, who is assisted by a strong team of volunteers.* The purpose of the choir is to teach youngsters how to sing in harmony, to show them how much fun and fulfilment can be achieved from singing together and to give them opportunities to participate in major performances.

The Juniors learn a wide variety of music, from popular show pieces to some of the more challenging works and have already performed alongside the adult choir, including at two major concerts in the Plymouth Guildhall. In Phoenix Chorale’s Christmas concert 2018, they sang the solo parts from Dan Forrest's 'The Huron Carol' alongside the adult choir. The Juniors manage a range of parts and we hope that having the opportunity to sing with an accomplished choir like Phoenix Chorale will inspire them to continue to develop their own musical interests.

The Phoenix Juniors rehearse every Monday evening during term time, from 6.30-7.15pm in St Peter's Church, Wyndham Square. All sessions are free and all music is provided. We welcome any young people aged between 9 and 16 years (parents’/guardians’ permission is required).
